Structure
The structure of Shetland Development Trust can be divided into four groups to manage and administer our investments:
Trustees
The Trustees are the decision-making body of the Shetland Development Trust and will make decisions on all our applications for investment. Our Trustees consist of 21 Shetland Islands Council elected members and three independents. They come with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, with many of them independent business people in our communities.
General Manager and Project Managers
The General Manager has overall responsibility for all activities of the Shetland Development Trust. The Project Managers are responsible for facilitating projects, assessing applications and making recommendations, and reporting and monitoring our investments.
Financial Control
The Financial Controller and Assistant have the responsibility of controlling the Trusts funds, recommending investment options, issuing financial assistance to clients, and monitoring and reporting the financial performance of our investments.
External advisors
We may also appoint external advisors with specialist knowledge on specific investments, where appropriate to the decision-making process.
