NEW SHETLAND WEBSITE LAUNCHED

A new Shetland website has been launched today which provides an insight into island life for people who may be interested in moving to live and work in the Isles.  The site, which is at www.shetland.org, contains a wide range of material about the Islands.

One section offers background information about the history, environment and culture of the islands, whilst another provides advice on setting up business in Shetland.  Several pages are devoted to the practicalities of moving here and settling in, with lots of tips relating to schools, health services, housing, transport and much else.  A magazine section has short features on various aspects of Shetland life.

The site is intended to assist efforts to maintain population levels in Shetland.  However, it is also expected to be useful to others, for example students or journalists, who should be able to find useful background material.

The Shetland Island’s Council Development Committee were shown the site at their meeting this morning [Thursday] and praised its design and content.
