SHETLAND DEVELOPMENT TRUST SUPPORTS NEW SHETLAND MUSEUM AND ARCHIVES RETAIL RANGE PROJECT
Shetland Development Trustees have agreed to give £24,000 of surplus funds to the Shetland Museum and Archives to assist in developing a new retail product range to go on sale at Shetland Heritage sites.
Local designer, Karen Clubb has been appointed project coordinator with Shetland Amenity Trust team and will work with a design company to help produce a core range of quality branded products that are inspired by, reflect and celebrate our culture and heritage.
Acting as the lead facilitator for this project, Karen Clubb said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us to work along side both professional designers and local skilled craftspeople to develop a range of truly unique products that capture some of the spirit of Shetland in both concept and design.
“We aim to develop products that truly reflect the collections of the museum and emulate the core values of the Shetland Amenity Trust. It’s a great project to be involved with and we are looking forward to the development of quality products for the new Shetland Museum and Archives."
Commenting on the award, general manager of Shetland Development Trust, Neil Grant, said: “The Trust is pleased to be able to support this project which gives local skilled craftspeople the opportunity to create a unique range of branded Shetland products. The new Museum and Archives will be an excellent venue to showcase this new range and we wish the team every success in the completion of this project.”
