SHETLAND DEVELOPMENT TRUST PROVIDES LOAN ASSISTANCE TO GLOBAL YELL

 

Shetland Development Trust is pleased to confirm that they have provided a loan of £11,000 to Global Yell Ltd. for the business development of the Centre of Creative Industries in Yell.

 

Global Yell Ltd is a company with the charitable aims of providing education and performance in music and textiles.  The Centre of Creative Industries aims to nurture, train and educate in art and crafts, combining traditional skills with new technologies and ways of working to enhance existing businesses and create a vibrant community in the North Isles.

 

Andy Ross, Creative Director of the Centre of Creative Industries said, “We are delighted to receive the investment from the Shetland Development Trust. It shows a real commitment to creative industries in Shetland, and a confidence in the project that we have set up. The funding will allow us to purchase essential equipment and to secure the future of the Centre of Creative Industries, to keep it an exciting and creative organisation.”

 

Project Manager, Wendy Goudie said “ The Trust loan provides essential working capital to support a three year development plan for the Centre of Creative Industries.

Global Yell Ltd was formed in 2001 and the Centre for the Creative Industries grew out of the work of this company.  The Centre for Creative Industries builds on strong traditions and achievements in music and textiles in Shetland, exploring these to create a vibrant focus for further development that is an asset to Shetland, becoming internationally recognised as a centre for innovation and creativity. 

 

Combining music and textiles in one venue, the Centre aims to nurture, train and educate in art and crafts, combining traditional skills with new technologies and ways of working to enhance existing businesses, create a vibrant community and keep the islands as an attractive place to live and work.
