SHETLAND DEVELOPMENT TRUST SUPPORTS BUSY SKERRIES FIRM TO EXPAND
Shetland Development Trust is pleased to confirm that following yesterday afternoon’s Trust meeting; Trustees’ have agreed to support Bound Skerries Seafoods Ltd. towards costs associated with erecting two accommodation chalets in Skerries in order to attract workers into the isles.
Bound Skerries Seafoods Ltd. currently employs up to 12 people during the year, however, due to increased production and demand for their quality product, measures are being taken to attract migratory workers into the isles. A critical part of attracting workers to work in Skerries, is establishing available accommodation faciltiies for the Company to be able attract employees, as there is a housing shortage in the isles.
The Shetland Islands Council has donated two chalet kits and the monies secured from the Trust, £31,400 will go towards the site foundations and associated costs with locating these chalets in Skerries.
Josie Simpson, Chair of the Shetland Development Trust said, “ The Trust are pleased to be supporting this intiative and assisting this remote island community and Bound Skerries Seafoods Ltd. towards expanding their workforce. It is great to see the Company doing so well and hope that their efforts to attract workers into the isles are successful.”
