SHETLAND DEVELOPMENT TRUST SPONSORS SCHOOL OF AMBITION ENTERPRISE EDUCATION PROJECT
Shetland Development Trust has agreed to sponsor up to £12,830 towards completion of an Anderson High School School of Ambition team project which aims “to improve the marketing of Shetland’s recreational resources to young people from the UK and abroad”.
The Anderson High School project team is made up of nine 6th year students and thirteen 4th year students and their global classroom contacts in Germany, Sweden and the Czech Republic. The Project Co-ordinator is graduate trainee, Kristina Mazurenko from Latvia who is in Shetland working on the School of Ambition project. Ms Mazurenko said “I am truly impressed by the opportunities provided by the Anderson High School to its students and by the support received from all our partners. We have an enthusiastic team of students who seem eager to start work. I hope the project will be of great value to the students and to the local community.”
The team’s goals are to deliver a quality marketing service to the Shetland Recreational Trust. This will include providing market research, creating marketing strategies for promoting Shetland and creating new tourism products for young people. This project will give students the opportunity to tackle real business issues which will deliver results that will benefit Shetland in the future.
Gregor Manson, Assistant Manager of Clickimin Leisure Complex said, “The Shetland Recreational Trust is delighted to be involved in such a unique and exciting project. I see this as a fantastic opportunity to promote Shetland’s high quality recreational resources and believe it will be of great benefit, not only to the Shetland Recreational Trust, but to Shetland as a whole.”
Commenting on the sponsorship award, Neil McDougall, Interim General Manager of the Shetland Development Trust said that the “Trust was delighted to become a partner in sponsoring this projectwhich will give real benefits to the students involved and furthermore a lasting benefit for Shetland’s tourism product."
